West Indies Champions beat England by nine wickets to win World Championship of Legends
Lendl Simmons and Chadwick Walton made unbeaten fifties as West Indies Champions chased 160 in 17 overs in the Sharjah final.

West Indies Champions beat England Champions by nine wickets in the final of the World Championship of Legends 2026 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 18, and won the trophy.
Batting first, England Champions scored 159 for seven in 20 overs, setting West Indies a target of 160. Moeen Ali top-scored for England with 60 runs, while Owais Shah made 38. Dwayne Bravo took three wickets for West Indies.
In reply, West Indies Champions batted aggressively and reached 165 for one in 17 overs. Captain Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons gave the team a fine start. Gayle made 21 off 14 balls, with one four and two sixes.
After Gayle was dismissed, Simmons put on a partnership with Chadwick Walton. The two scored quickly and took the side to the target. Simmons remained unbeaten on 77 off 53 balls, with three sixes and eight fours. Walton remained unbeaten on 58 off 35 balls, with three fours and four sixes. West Indies thus won with nine wickets in hand and lifted the WCL 2026 trophy.
Wicketkeeper-batter Walton was named Player of the Tournament. He scored 342 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 167.65, with 20 fours and 28 sixes. He made fifties in four of the seven matches. He played a key role in West Indies winning the title.
The World Championship of Legends has been played for the past three years. The first season was held in 2024, when India Champions beat Pakistan in the final to win the trophy. South Africa Champions won the title in the second season in 2025. West Indies Champions have now won the third season.
