Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal has urged residents, traders and firecracker sellers to follow administration rules strictly during Diwali.

Ahead of Diwali and the other festivals to follow, Wardha district police are making the arrangements needed to maintain law and order in the district, ensure public safety and keep noise and air pollution in check. In this connection, Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, on behalf of Wardha Police, has appealed to all citizens, traders, firecracker sellers and businesspeople in the district to follow the administration's instructions and rules strictly.

Diwali is a festival of joy, enthusiasm and light, and it is important that everyone celebrates it in a safe environment. During festivals, fireworks, crowds, traffic and public events carry a risk of accidents, fires, noise pollution and law-and-order problems. Every citizen has therefore been asked to understand their social responsibility and cooperate with the administration.

Under directions of the Supreme Court and the government, bursting firecrackers is prohibited from 10 pm to 6 am. People have been asked to observe the prescribed hours.

Only authorised and approved firecrackers should be bought and sold. Firecrackers that are banned or violate the rules should neither be sold nor used.

While bursting firecrackers, people should ensure that small children, the elderly, pregnant women, patients and people with breathing problems are not troubled. Noise pollution rules must be followed near hospitals, educational institutions, courts and other silence zones.

Firecrackers should be burst in open spaces, and not indoors, in enclosed spaces, near vehicles or near inflammable materials. Water and the necessary fire-fighting equipment should be kept nearby. Children should burst firecrackers only under adult supervision.

Waste left after firecrackers are burst should be disposed of safely. A firecracker that has not gone off should not be lit again.

There are also instructions for firecracker sellers and traders. The first is that firecrackers should be sold only on the basis of a valid licence from the competent authority.
