Volvo Car India has launched its new all-electric luxury flagship SUV, the EX90, in India. It is priced at Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom). Built as a six-seater family SUV, the EX90 is Volvo's first software-defined car in the Indian market. It is built on Volvo's new SPA2 platform and combines Scandinavian minimalist design, conventional safety standards, strong driving range and cutting-edge technology.
Bookings are open. The customer experience and drive experience will begin in November 2026, and deliveries are planned from January 2027. An introductory offer applies to all bookings made before December 31, 2026, including an 11 kW wall box charger and a three-year service package. Volvo Cars dealerships are also offering a 65 per cent buyback after three years.
Speaking at the 90-90 show in Delhi, Jyoti Malhotra, managing director of Volvo Car India, said: "The launch of the EX90 is an important milestone in Volvo Car India's commitment to a more electric, software-defined future. With its unmatched comfort, technology and excellent range, this flagship SUV is bringing a new era of mobility. We believe this is a complete luxury family SUV that gives you peace of mind, puts safety above everything and offers the finest experience of Swedish luxury."
Designed as Volvo's smartest car so far, the SUV runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit technology. It has a 14.5-inch central touchscreen with the Google ecosystem (Google Maps, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video), wireless Apple CarPlay and continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates. With a single core computer, the EX90 can process 254 to 280 trillion operations per second.
On performance, it has a twin-motor setup with a high-voltage 106 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 335 kW (456 hp) of power and 670 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. Its estimated range is up to 625 km as per WLTP and up to 725 km as per ICAT.
For the safety of occupants and pedestrians, it has advanced Safe Space technology. It is fitted with 5 cameras, 5 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, a 360-degree camera with 3D view, Pilot Assist, adaptive cruise control, occupant sensing technology and collision avoidance systems.
The interior reflects Scandinavian craftsmanship, with back-lit wood decor, ventilated Nappa leather seats in Dawn colour, a four-zone climate system and a large panoramic electrochromic sunroof. A six-seater captain seat configuration allows easy access to the third row, and power-folding rear seats increase boot space. The SUV has one of the best audio systems in the industry: a 25-speaker, 1,610W Bowers & Wilkins high-fidelity sound system, along with Dolby Atmos and Abbey Road Studios modes.
In brief, the specifications are: length 5,037 mm, width (with mirrors) 2,113 mm, height 1,744 mm, and kerb weight between 2,504 and 2,712 kg. The car is fully ready for bi-directional charging, meaning it supports energy-sharing capabilities.
