Nagpur: Nine mobile phones and an expensive wristwatch, together valued at Rs 4.26 lakh, have gone missing from sealed Flipkart parcels in the Pachpaoli area. Two employees of the transport company that sorts and delivers the parcels have been accused of the theft.
Based on CCTV footage, police have arrested Shoeb Afsar Hussain (28) and Nazir Shaikh (21).
The case relates to the office of Elastic Run, also described as Antex Transportation Company, in Baba Buddhajinagar. Parcels coming from Flipkart are sorted there and sent on to customers. The accused had been working at the company as office boys for about a month and a half.
On the night of October 24, company officials found an empty mobile phone box. The footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the office was then examined. In the footage of October 13, Nazir Shaikh was allegedly seen taking a mobile phone out of a sealed parcel. The inquiry was stepped up after this, and it emerged that nine mobile phones and an expensive wristwatch had been stolen. All the items are valued at Rs 4.26 lakh.
The incident has raised questions about the security of parcels and the monitoring of valuables inside the company.
Police registered a case on the complaint of Ayush Kohli, the company's area manager. Police are now working to recover the stolen phones and watch, and are also looking into other aspects of the case.
Jitendra Bobde, Police Inspector, Pachpaoli police station, is handling the case.
