Two youths from Nagpur were held hostage in Guwahati, threatened with being burnt alive, and a ransom of Rs 15 lakh was demanded for their release. In this sensational case, Tahsil police have arrested Nitin Dilip Vanjari, a resident of Lashkaribagh, Panchpaoli.

Police acted in Assam's Chirang district and rescued both youths safely. However, an accused named Rocky is still absconding and police are searching for him.

According to the information available, Hasnain Bilal Asrar Ahmed, brother of Ikra Tabassum Asrar Ahmed of MomINpura, and his friend Roshan alias Zubair Rajesh Budel went to Guwahati on October 11 for work connected with a mule account. Hasnain had told his sister that he had taken a Bank of India account belonging to Sumit Raju Sahare of Bhandara. He was to be paid Rs 20,000 for it.

On October 14, Hasnain phoned to say that Sumit Sahare had removed the registered SIM card linked to the bank account and that the account held about Rs 54 lakh. Meanwhile, a man named Rocky made a video call to Ikra and told her that her brother and his friend had been taken hostage.

Rocky threatened to burn the two alive and initially demanded a ransom of Rs 28 lakh. Ikra said she could not afford such an amount. The accused then demanded Rs 15 lakh.

A case was registered at Tahsil police station. During the investigation, police arrested Nitin Vanjari. On the basis of information from him and mobile phone locations, police launched a search operation in Assam's Chirang district. With the help of local police, both youths were rescued safely.

The two youths have been brought to Nagpur and handed over to their families. The search for the absconding accused, Rocky, continues, and Tahsil police are conducting further investigation.
