Trump offers $20 million for information on Iran's nuclear material after midterm defeat
Donald Trump has shown no sign of softening after his Republican Party's heavy midterm loss, announcing a $20 million reward for information on Iran's nuclear material.
Donald Trump's Republican Party has suffered a crushing defeat in the US midterm elections. Notably, Trump lost even in Texas, where the Republican Party has long been dominant. The Democratic Party is considered almost certain to win a majority in the Senate.
Trump came to power promising to end wars on foreign soil, make America great again and raise the living standards of American citizens. But he attacked Iran. It is being said that America gained nothing from this war and instead suffered losses. Inflation rose, spending on the war was enormous, and petrol and gas prices went up.
Allegations are also being made that Trump had a girls' school in Iran attacked, killing innocent children, broke several rules of war and humiliated the Ukrainian president in public. When the American public did not agree with his decisions over these two years, people arranged to rein him in through democratic means.
After the results, when the Democratic Party's Senate majority had become almost certain, Trump was seen in a public place wearing a red cap. It read "Mr. Veto". This has been explained to mean that however much the Democrats try to stop him, Trump can do what he wants by using his special power, the veto.
The whole world is now watching whether Trump will soften or turn more aggressive after the defeat, because America's decisions affect the entire world. It is being said that, given the importance of Israel's supporters in America, Netanyahu or the Israeli lobby could prepare Trump to launch a major attack on Iran.
On the other hand, there is talk that after the election defeat Trump's advisers are in a mood to take a cautious line and are giving Trump the same advice. The reason is that most Americans have come to the view that America's war with Iran is illegal. It is not yet clear which way Trump will decide.
After the defeat it had seemed that Trump would calm down, but that does not appear to be happening. He immediately announced a reward of $20 million for anyone giving information about Iran's nuclear material. It has also been said that if the informant's life is in danger, he or she will be kept in a safe place and looked after.
Meanwhile, a claim has been made that Russia has quietly given Iran some important missiles. People are also claiming that if Iran is hit with a nuclear attack, Russia will openly join the war.
It has also been claimed that Iran has distributed iodine tablets to people living near the Natanz nuclear site to protect them from radiation. It has also arranged a year's supply of grain and living quarters under a mountain. Seeing all these developments, political analysts are calling it the calm before the storm.
