Nagpur: Fraudsters are showing no sign of stopping, even preying on people seeking medical treatment. Three accused cheated a 76-year-old man of Rs 2.94 lakh by promising to get his wife treated by a well-known Mumbai doctor. After collecting the money in cash, by cheque and through UPI, the accused vanished. The case falls under the Dhantoli police station area.

Gulshan Mayadas Kohli, 76, a resident of Omkar Tower on Tikekar Road, wanted treatment for the ankle of his 71-year-old wife, Asha Kohli. During this time, one of the accused contacted him, introducing himself as Goyal, and assured him of treatment by a Mumbai doctor, Dr Shinde. He claimed that several patients had been cured by Dr Shinde's treatment.

Along with two other accused, he then collected Rs 2.94 lakh in the name of treatment, in cash, by cheque and through UPI.

This is the third such case to surface recently. Earlier, victims were similarly targeted in the Shantinagar and Kotwali police station areas. More such cases are expected to come to light in the coming days.
