Teaser of biopic 'Dhasal' on poet Namdeo Dhasal unveiled at Dhamma Festival in Nagpur

The teaser of 'Dhasal', a much-awaited biopic on Padma Shri Namdeo Dhasal, was screened on the stage of the Dhamma Festival held in Nagpur. Namdeo Dhasal was not merely a poet; he embodied a revolution of ideas that flared up against injustice. The teaser gave audiences a striking glimpse of actor Lalit Prabhakar's portrayal of Dhasal.

With poetry that was rebellious in thought, fearless in its writing and confronted social realities, Namdeo Dhasal carved out a distinct place in the world of Marathi literature. Curiosity about how his life will unfold on the big screen has grown after the teaser.

The film is presented by Sanjay Pandey and The Bioscope Films. It is produced by Varuna Madanlal Rana and Sanjay Pandey, who have also written and directed it. The film will explore the struggle of Dhasal's life, the rebellion in his ideas and his fearless questioning of the social order. The teaser offered a glimpse of Prabhakar's role, and the form he has given this historic figure and the effort behind it have raised interest in the film.

The film has music by veteran southern composer Ilaiyaraaja. The lyrics are by Irshad Kamil and Guru Thakur. The songs are sung by Adarsh Shinde, Divya Kumar, Rohit Raut, Padmanabh Gaikwad, Urmila Dhangar and Vibhavari Apte.

Dialogue writing by Abhay Sodye, Pratap Gangawane and Ashwajeet Kamble has given the film its sharp edge. Lalit Prabhakar's look as Namdeo Dhasal was created by make-up artist Shrikant Desai. The film's art director is Eknath Kadam and the director of photography is Milind Jog.
