Stray dog menace at Q Residency in Ghansoli MIDC, residents demand immediate action
Residents of seven housing societies at Q Residency in Ghansoli MIDC say roaming stray dogs have made daily life fearful and want the authorities to act at once.
Residents of Q Residency at Airoli in the Ghansoli MIDC area complain that a rising number of stray dogs is affecting their daily lives. They say small children, women and senior citizens in particular have to stay alert while moving around the complex.
The complaint comes from the cooperative housing societies R1 to R7 of Q Residency. According to residents, dog attacks have created an atmosphere of fear. The safety of small children and senior citizens has now become the biggest concern. Residents want the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to address the problem.
Residents say packs of stray dogs have begun roaming the area. As a result, people have to be careful both inside the society compounds and while walking on the surrounding roads. Fear is particularly high among young children going to school and senior citizens who step out for walks in the morning and evening. Complaints of dog attacks have added to their worry.
Some residents have also objected to the way stray dogs are being fed. They say some dog lovers in the area feed stray dogs in the morning and evening, which is increasing the gathering of dogs there. According to residents, when there is no proper arrangement for feeding, people living in the societies have to bear the trouble. Hope has also been expressed that the authorities will find a solution rather than let a clash develop between residents and dog lovers.
Residents have also asked which agency is ultimately responsible for acting on the stray dog problem, given that the Q Residency area falls within MIDC limits. People have also voiced displeasure over civic amenities in the area.
Residents feel that no effective measure has been taken even after complaints were made. They demand that the authorities concerned give immediate attention to the problem faced by the seven societies, take the steps needed for people's safety and resolve the complaints. Residents are also asking whether the administration will wake up only after a serious accident.
