Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi has made her first post on the social media platform X. In it, she announced her new book. The post carries a video in which she speaks about her first meeting with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the beginning of their love story.

The book is titled 'Belonging: A Journey of Love' and will reach readers on November 10. In the video, she said she first met Rajiv Gandhi at a Greek restaurant in Cambridge, England, through a common friend. The two first became good friends, and the relationship later turned into love.

In the post, Sonia Gandhi wrote, "My journey of love began in a small Greek restaurant in Cambridge." She added, "Rajiv and I together built a beautiful world full of love, laughter and memories. On November 10, I will share that world with all of you."

The video opens with Sonia Gandhi turning the pages of the book. Looking at a photograph of Rajiv Gandhi printed in it, she recalls his personality. She then describes in detail how she met him and how their journey unfolded.

According to Sonia Gandhi, she met Rajiv Gandhi through a colleague or common friend. Both felt they were made for each other. But at first they were friends. They went to parties together and also went out exploring. She said the two had once attended a Valentine party as well.

Recalling Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi says he was very handsome, but also had a distinct grace and gentleness in his nature. This quality won her over. In the video, she said, "He was very handsome, but he had remarkable grace. That is what touched my heart and stayed there forever. I can never forget that first meeting."

The place she mentioned is called 'Varsity Restaurant'. European and Indian students came to eat at this Greek restaurant in Cambridge. Sonia Gandhi said she could get the Italian food she liked there. It was at this restaurant that she met Rajiv Gandhi and their relationship began. Her words carry fond memories of the time when the two grew close while studying in Cambridge.

In her post, she described the life spent with Rajiv Gandhi as a world of love, laughter and memories. Through the book, she will share with readers many important memories of her personal life and her relationship with Rajiv Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi joined X in February 2013 but had not made a single post on it until now. Today, October 24, 2026, she made this first post, announcing her upcoming book on her love story with Rajiv Gandhi.
