Smriti Mandhana will lead the Indian women's cricket team as a regular captain for the first time. The three-match T20 International series between India and Zimbabwe begins on October 16. Fans are watching the series closely and expect India to win it.

In this series, Mandhana has a chance to set a historic record that no player, man or woman, has set so far. She is in outstanding form, and fans hope she will take the record in these matches.

In T20 International runs, Mandhana has already moved ahead of male players. Men such as Babar Azam, Jos Buttler, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are counted among the highest run-getters in T20 Internationals, but their totals are lower than hers. She is now very close to becoming the first player in the world to complete 5,000 runs in T20 International cricket.

No player, man or woman, has scored 5,000 runs in T20 Internationals so far. The Indian captain has come close to the milestone. She has scored 4,867 runs in 172 innings across 179 matches, with two centuries and 37 half-centuries. She needs only 133 more runs for this historic world record and could reach the figure in the coming series against Zimbabwe.

The three-match T20 series between the India and Zimbabwe women's teams begins on Friday. It is the first bilateral series between the women's teams of the two countries. Zimbabwe recently registered a strong win over West Indies in an ODI, which has boosted their confidence. Josephine Nkomo will captain Zimbabwe.

All three T20 matches will be played in Raipur on October 16, 18 and 20. The two teams will then travel to Vadodara, where a three-match ODI series will be played on October 23, 25 and 28.
