SIR claims and objections deadline extended to October 12 in Chandrapur, special camps announced
Voters served notices need not visit tehsil offices, as booth-level officers will collect documents from homes, the Chandrapur district administration said.
The deadline for filing claims and objections under the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 has been extended in Chandrapur. The work can now be done until October 12, 2026.
Voters who have received a notice over "no mapping" or a logical discrepancy do not need to visit the tehsil office in person to submit documents. The booth-level officer (BLO) concerned will visit voters' homes and collect the required papers.
Voters who received notices over a mismatch of their name in the electoral roll or a logical discrepancy are not required to appear for a hearing before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) or at the tehsil office. Those who have already received a notice should keep the required documents ready, and the BLO will come to their homes to collect them. Voters may also send documents over WhatsApp or through available online options.
In cases of logical discrepancy, the decision will be taken only on the basis of documents related to that discrepancy, the BLO's inquiry report or a panchnama. In exceptional cases where prescribed documents are not available, or a decision cannot be made on the documents provided, hearings will be held online as far as possible. The voter concerned or an adult member of the family may attend the hearing.
Voters will be given full opportunity to submit the required documents before any final decision. Details of the relevant cases will also be shared with the booth-level representatives of political parties so that they have enough time to gather documents.
To ensure no eligible voter is left out during the extended period, special camps will be held at all polling stations in the district on October 3 and 4, and October 10 and 11, 2026. The BLOs concerned will be present at the stations on these days. At the camps, new voters will be registered through Form 6, names in the draft electoral roll can be checked, and Form 8 can be filled for corrections. Documents of voters who received notices will also be accepted there.
In the district's junior and senior colleges, the focus between October 5 and 9 will be on registering students online as voters through Form 6. To make registration easier for eligible citizens at industrial establishments, companies, factories and cooperative housing societies, special camps will also be held until October 12 through the Voter Jagruti Manch.
Voters can also check their names in the draft roll from home and fill Form 6 for new registration and Form 8 for corrections online. The Election Commission's Voters' Services Portal, ECINET and the Voter Helpline App can be used for this. The 1950 voter helpline is available for information on SIR, the electoral roll, notices, registration or the camps.
As per the Election Commission of India's directions, all electoral registration officers have been told to take special care that no eligible voter is left off the roll. Where there is no firm evidence, voters will be given a chance to submit documents and present their case before any adverse decision is taken.
District Collector Vasumana Pant has appealed to voters who received notices not to panic and crowd the tehsil offices. They should contact the BLO of their polling station, make use of the special camps or use the online facilities. She also said that no one should trust any rumour or unverified information.
