Satara schoolgirl Swara Kadam wins wrestling gold, selected for state-level meet

Vaduj: Swara Rahul Kadam, a student of Zilla Parishad School, Daruj, in Khatav taluka of Satara district, has been selected for the state-level wrestling competition. The selection follows her win in the school wrestling competition.

The school wrestling competition was held on October 6. Swara won the gold medal at the divisional level, which opened the way to the state level for her.

Swara achieved this in a very tough competition on her first attempt. Her determination, hard work and proper diet produced the result.

Swara's parents are hardworking and have borne hardship. They have built a training hall at their home, with a clay pit and a mat area. They have also set up a gym for the children's exercise.

Swara studies in Class 6 at Zilla Parishad School, Daruj, and is also good at her studies. Her journey is moving forward by keeping the right balance between sport and studies.

Satara Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Yashani Nagarajan, Education Officer Anis Nayakwadi, Khatav taluka Block Education Officer Sangeeta Gaikwad, Extension Officer Sonali Vibhute and Centre Head Amol Phadtare congratulated Swara. The chairperson of the school management committee, all the villagers, the headmaster, all the teachers and the students were also among those who congratulated her. Everyone wished her luck for the next competition.

By doing well in sport as well as studies, Swara has set an example for other students. Her success is also seen as an inspiration for other girls in rural areas.

Swara's win is expected to encourage greater participation by girls in wrestling, and to give her fresh energy for coming competitions. It is hoped that at the state-level competition too, Swara will play as brilliantly and bring honour to her school, her village and Satara district.
