Indian athletes continue to perform well at the Asian Para Games in Japan. India has so far won a total of 47 medals, and another gold has now been added to the list. The gold came from Sachin Khilari in the men's shot put F46 event.

At the Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, India's Sachin Sargerao Khilari won the gold medal in the men's shot put F46 event. He also set a new Asian Para Games record. India took all three medals in the event, and Sachin is being praised across the country.

Sachin, who has won a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics, retained the gold he won at the Asian Para Games last year. In his sixth and final attempt, he threw 15.87 metres to finish first.

India's Mohammad Yasir won silver with a throw of 15.06 metres in his third attempt. India's Parveen covered 14.94 metres to finish third and win the bronze medal.

The F46 class is considered important in para sport. It is meant for athletes with a physical disability or deficiency in the limbs, that is, the arms. Athletes in this class compete standing. In shot put and other throwing events, they have to throw the shot or discus using the strength of the waist and legs rather than the full strength of the arm. This calls for a great deal of physical balance and strength.

India's athletes continue their fine showing in Nagoya. In the women's 67 kg category, Kasturi Rajamani, who hails from Tamil Nadu, won a silver medal for India. In her third and final attempt, she successfully lifted 108 kg, finished second and added one more medal to India's tally.
