Mul police have registered a theft case against an unknown person after Rs 90,000 kept in a tin box at a farmer family's home in Futana village disappeared.
Rs 90,000 in cash has gone missing from the home of a farming family in Futana village of Pombhurna taluka. The money had been saved to build a house. A theft case has been registered against an unknown person at Mul police station.
The complaint was filed by Amit Parshuram Pote (29), a resident of Futana. He runs the household by farming with his mother. He had to start work on the house this year and had arranged the money in various ways. All of it was kept in an empty tin box in the front room of the house.
According to the complaint, at about 5 pm on October 25, 2026, Amit and his mother together put Rs 90,000 in the box. At about 8 am on November 1, 2026, Amit had to book cement and asked his mother for Rs 30,000.
When the mother opened the box, the entire amount was gone. Amit also went into the house and checked himself, but the Rs 90,000 kept in the box could not be found. The family asked among relatives and in the neighbourhood and searched for the money, but found nothing.
Amit became convinced that an unknown person had entered the house between October 25 and November 1 and taken the cash from the box. When the money did not turn up, he went to Mul police station on November 4 and lodged a complaint.
On this complaint, Mul police have registered a case against an unknown thief under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. No arrest or identification has been reported so far.
Police constable Indal Ramrao Rathod is conducting further investigation under the guidance of station inspector Vijay Ramkrishna Rathod. The loss of the money gathered to build the house has come as a heavy blow to the farmer family.
