Rs 4 crore cash found in hidden chamber of pickup truck in Chhattisgarh's Khursipar

Police in Chhattisgarh's Khursipar have allegedly recovered Rs 4 crore in cash from a Bolero Maxx pickup truck heading towards Nagpur. According to police, the money was hidden in a secret chamber built into the rear of the vehicle. Two people travelling in the vehicle have been detained and are being questioned.

Police had received advance information that a large amount of cash was being taken from Raipur to Nagpur in a white Bolero Maxx pickup. Acting on the tip-off, they stopped the vehicle and checked it at around 11 pm on Monday in the Dabrapara area under the Khursipar police station limits.

Police grew suspicious during the initial check, after which the vehicle was searched thoroughly. The search turned up a secret chamber in the rear of the pickup. When police opened it, they found Indian currency hidden inside.

Police said the notes were counted and the total came to Rs 4 crore. The incident of such a large sum being carried hidden in a vehicle has drawn the attention of investigating agencies.

Police have seized the pickup and detained both men travelling in it. They are being asked where the cash came from, whom it belongs to and why it was being taken to Nagpur.

Legal action is reportedly under way in the case as per procedure. The Income Tax Department is also said to be being informed so that the financial source of the cash can be examined.

Only after the investigation is complete will it become clear who the recovered money belongs to and for what purpose it was being carried. The case is being treated as significant because of the Nagpur link. However, the owner of the cash, its source and any possible illegal activity can be confirmed only after the investigation concludes.
