Chandrapur: Good news has come for Jivati taluka in the Rajura Assembly constituency, which borders Telangana. The taluka is a remote, hilly and aspirational area. On October 23, 2026, the Maharashtra government's public health department granted administrative approval to an estimate of Rs 21 crore 51 lakh 94 thousand for the Jivati rural hospital.
The amount has been sanctioned under Phase 3 for the remaining work on the hospital's main building, namely construction of the first floor, and for building residences for doctors and staff.
Areas such as Jivati, which are remote and aspirational, lack medical facilities, so people have to travel long distances for treatment. Rajura MLA Devrao Bhongle pursued the matter continuously to get better health facilities for the people of Jivati. He raised the issue with the government from the first Legislature session of his tenure and also held several high-level meetings at Mantralaya.
For the approval of the project, Bhongle corresponded continuously with the state's Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar and held meetings with him to explain the need for the rural hospital. He also met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from time to time and kept putting his demand forcefully.
With the Rs 21.52 crore fund sanctioned by the government, a large first floor covering 1,955.19 square metres will be built at the Jivati rural hospital. The modern hospital will have facilities such as lifts, a central air-conditioning system (HVAC), an oxygen pipeline, a fire-fighting system, CCTV cameras, internet, a solar power system, modern medical furniture and a large compound wall.
Large Type-2 and Type-4 residences for medical officers and staff will also be built on the hospital premises.
Because of MLA Bhongle's efforts and foresight, it has now become easier for thousands of people in the remote area to get modern health services close to home. People of Jivati taluka are expressing gratitude to MLA Bhongle for this historic decision.
