Rohit Pawar, MLA of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) faction, has once again targeted the BJP. He said Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar will not get the finance portfolio. His statement has stirred political circles.
The background is that after the death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has kept the finance portfolio that he held. There appears to be a tussle within the Mahayuti over the post. The Nationalist Congress Party has asked the Chief Minister and BJP leaders to give the finance portfolio back. But the party has not received it so far.
On this, Rohit Pawar said, "I know the BJP very well. Sunetra Pawar will not get the finance portfolio. That is why I am away from the BJP." He also alleged that the BJP quietly took the finance portfolio after Ajit Pawar's death. According to Rohit Pawar, Ajitdada got justice neither from the leaders of his own party nor from the BJP.
Rohit Pawar also took the government to task over help for farmers. Drought conditions prevail in the state, and advance aid of Rs 5,000 has been announced for farmers. Rohit Pawar demanded that farmers be given help at the earliest. He warned the government: "Help the farmers at the earliest, or we will not let you celebrate Diwali." He said that by giving Rs 5,000, the government is taking farmers lightly.
Rohit Pawar said that after the MPSC agitation and his tour of his constituency, he will now become active for the graduates' constituency election.
He also spoke on students' complaints and the inquiry into related appointments. Rohit Pawar said, "We have faith in Tukaram Mundhe. Students should meet him and present evidence. Let the inquiry bring out the truth and let the guilty face strict action." He expressed this hope.
Rohit Pawar targeted the government on three issues: the finance portfolio, aid to farmers and the demand for an inquiry. The political climate in the state is likely to heat up again.
