The administration has completed preparations for the biennial elections to the Pune division graduates' and teachers' constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Teams of officers and staff deployed for polling have left for their respective polling stations with the necessary material.

Voting will take place at 232 polling stations in Pune district on Friday, October 23, between 8 am and 4 pm. The district administration has said station-wise arrangements have been made so that voting is smooth, peaceful and transparent.

The teams collected the material from distribution centres and set out for their stations. To avoid any hitch on polling day, arrangements have been made for the availability of material, deployment of staff, transport and preparation of the stations. Arrangements have also been made for safely collecting the material after voting ends and depositing it at designated places.

In the district, 160 polling stations have been set up for the graduates' constituency and 72 for the teachers' constituency. There are 47 candidates in the fray in the graduates' constituency and 30 in the teachers' constituency. The staff and material needed for orderly voting in both constituencies have already been distributed.

Pune district has 88,202 registered voters in the graduates' constituency and 16,882 in the teachers' constituency. Together, 1,05,084 voters will cast their votes. The administration has therefore stressed preparations at every polling station so that the process is easy and orderly.

Separate arrangements for material distribution, collection after voting and strong rooms have been made for Pune city and the tehsil areas of Purandar, Haveli, Maval-Mulshi, Bhor-Velha, Daund, Junnar, Khed and Baramati-Indapur.

For Purandar, the new administrative building on Pargaon Road has been designated. For Haveli, it is Sinhgad College, Ambegaon, and for Pune city, Shree Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, Swargate.
