Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India's newly built data centre and cyber security training institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He said Bhubaneswar was giving a new institution to a new India. According to him, the inauguration of the RBI's data centre and cyber security training institute in the city is significant and will prove very beneficial for the people of Odisha and the country.

Modi extended his good wishes to everyone associated with the project. He said the event was proof of how quickly the government's way of working and outlook were changing in India. According to him, the government's aim is that development gets priority, widens its reach and gets to the last person.

The Prime Minister said that after Independence, big cities developed and big institutions, big hospitals and big airports were built, but a very large part of the country is still waiting for basic facilities.

He explained with examples that Delhi had a big hospital, but people from villages, like those from small towns, had to wander for treatment. Big cities had air travel, but there was not much focus on connecting small towns by air. For ordinary travellers the railways were the most important means, but even there modern facilities were lacking. According to Modi, taking the benefits of development to every region and every citizen was a big challenge for him, and his government has tried to change this.

Modi said that for him development means balanced growth of India and creating opportunities for villages. The aim is that poor families get facilities to live with dignity and that every citizen feels confident that he or she will not be left behind on this journey of development.

He said expressways are now being linked to small towns as well. Institutions such as AIIMS have reached small towns. In villages across the country, 1.75 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been started, and digital connectivity is expanding in rural areas too. According to Modi, the main purpose of the government's way of working is to make people's lives easier and give their dreams a new chance.

Targeting the Congress's way of working, the Prime Minister said ordinary families were kept away from facilities for several decades. Banking is a major example. Banks were nationalised in the 1960s and 70s in the name of the poor, but until 2014 half of the country's population remained outside the banking system.

Modi said digital banking in India has now connected everyone to the banking system round the clock. But before 2014 there was a very different era of phone banking. In Delhi, certain favoured people and those with connections in the Congress were given loans worth thousands of crores of rupees through phone banking, while a poor person needed a guarantor even to open a bank account.

He said that under the Congress's phone banking scheme, thousands of crores of rupees were always available for the rich, which pushed India's banking system into the grip of NPAs. The Prime Minister concluded by saying that for any change, ideas must be good, intentions must be clean and there must be willpower, and then what seems impossible becomes possible.
