Guardian Minister Gulabrao Patil said the Jalgaon civic body will not lack funds, as a transfer station opened in Mehrun and the garbage ramp near the ITI was closed.

The Jalgaon Municipal Corporation will not be allowed to run short of money for the city's development works, with funds coming through the District Planning Committee, Guardian Minister Gulabrao Patil has assured. He was speaking at the inauguration of a state-of-the-art garbage transfer station built in the old TB Centre area of Mehrun. He also asked the ruling office-bearers and corporators to distribute the available funds equally among all so that the corporation's work runs smoothly.

The garbage ramp near the ITI had been causing health problems for students and nearby residents. The area falls in Ward No. 7 of Mayor Deepmala Kale. She took citizens' complaints and the ABVP's agitation seriously. The mayor and the deputy mayor had promised to remove the ramp within a month.

In keeping with that promise, the transfer station, built near the ward committee office in Mehrun under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0, was inaugurated on Thursday. The ramp near the ITI was closed. MP Smita Wagh, MLA Suresh Bhole, Mayor Deepmala Kale, Deputy Mayor Manoj Chaudhari, Standing Committee Chairman Dr Chandrashekhar Patil, Commissioner Aditya Jeevane and Women and Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Sindhu Kolhe were present.

Patil referred to the dispute between BJP and Shiv Sena members in the general body meeting over the distribution of District Planning Committee funds, and directed that the funds be shared equally. He said complaints were coming in from some BJP office-bearers as well as from the Shiv Sena. He said everyone should get an equal share of funds and the corporation's work should run smoothly. He also indicated that more garbage collection centres would be set up in the city.

MP Smita Wagh said efforts to secure central schemes for the city's development were continuing. MLA Suresh Bhole said efforts were on to resolve pending issues by securing more funds for the corporation. Mayor Kale said the new centre had come up through persistent follow-up, and would bring relief to citizens and students.

BJP group leader Prakash Balani, Shiv Sena group leader Vishnu Bhangale, Additional Commissioner Shobha Baviskar, officials, office-bearers and corporators were also present. Vijaykumar Sonawane conducted the programme and Deputy Commissioner Nirmala Gaikwad proposed the vote of thanks.

On the occasion, six state-of-the-art fire brigade two-wheelers were also dedicated to the city. They were launched by the Guardian Minister and other dignitaries. The vehicles have been provided so that fire crews can reach quickly in the city's narrow lanes and expanded areas. By getting to crowded places at once, they will help reduce loss of life and property.
