A new transformer with a capacity of 630 kVA has been installed in Karjat market to address its power problems. It was inaugurated by MLA Mahendra Thorve. Traders in the town had been demanding higher-capacity electrical equipment for a long time.
The transformer was sanctioned for Karjat market through MLA Thorve. The inauguration was held near the Shani Mandir, where Thorve was the chief guest. Traders from Karjat town turned up in large numbers.
Also present were BJP district general secretary Deepak Behere, former deputy mayor Ashok Oswal, Leader of the Opposition in the municipal council Adv. Sanket Bhase, town chief Abhishek Surve, Sanjay Mohite and former town chief Mohan Oswal. Several councillors, including women councillors, also attended.
Traders in the market had been troubled by power problems for several months. Power failed repeatedly, particularly during festival days, causing them serious difficulty. The outages directly affected their business.
Seeing the traders' difficulty, Adv. Rohit Oswal, a nominated councillor of the Karjat municipal council, took the initiative. Oswal, who is also a local trader, kept pursuing the demand and repeatedly put it before MLA Thorve, asking that a new transformer be installed to end the market's power problem for good.
The demand has finally succeeded. Traders hope that after this inauguration the problem of power supply in the market will ease.
Traders say they hope the repeated power cuts, especially in the festival season, will stop and that business will get relief. They had been raising the issue for a long time, and efforts to resolve it have now succeeded.
