Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha: flag-hoisting set for October 31, Amrit Snan dates fixed
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar will hold a joint flag-hoisting on October 31 to open the Simhastha Kumbh, with Amrit Snan dates fixed through 2027.
Preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar have gathered pace. The Simhastha will begin with a flag-hoisting ceremony on October 31, 2026. The flag-hoisting will be performed in the traditional manner at Ramkund in Nashik and at Trimbakeshwar.
An important meeting was called under the chairmanship of guardian minister and Kumbh Mela minister Girish Mahajan to review preparations for the flag-hoisting programme. Sadhus, seers, mahants, representatives of various akharas and administrative officials attended the meeting. Given the crowds expected during the event, the meeting discussed security, traffic, cleanliness, parking, emergency arrangements and coordination among various government systems.
In Nashik, the religious programme will be held in the Ramkund area, while in Trimbakeshwar it will take place in the area linked to Kushavarta Kund and the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga temple. According to information received, the flag-hoisting is planned to take place simultaneously at both locations at 12:02 pm on October 31. President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are also reported to be scheduled to attend the occasion, though the final official programme may change.
The administration has been directed to complete all preparatory work on time before the flag-hoisting. Emphasis has been placed on maintaining continuous coordination with sadhus and representatives of the akharas to conduct the programme in accordance with religious traditions.
The first Amrit Snan of the Simhastha will be held on August 2, 2027. The second Amrit Snan will be held on August 31, 2027. Separate dates have been fixed for the third Amrit Snan in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. It will be held in Nashik on September 11, 2027, and in Trimbakeshwar on September 12, 2027. As per the current schedule, the Simhastha will conclude on July 24, 2028, with the flag-lowering ceremony.
With lakhs of devotees expected to arrive for the flag-hoisting and the religious events that follow, the administration is focusing on strengthening infrastructure, traffic management, parking, cleanliness, health services and emergency systems.
