Lohari Savanga village in Nagpur district's Narkhed tehsil is being discussed ahead of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's proposed visit.

Lohari Savanga village in Narkhed tehsil of Nagpur district has an old legacy of rural development. Its gram panchayat was formed in 1948. In the decades since, the village has built a distinct identity in the social, economic and agricultural spheres.

With Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's proposed visit, the village's development journey is being discussed again. Agriculture is the mainstay of the local economy, there is an old tradition of fruit orchards, and village life is still rural in character. Going by the village's population, panchayat structure and farm economy, a picture of rural Maharashtra is clearly visible in Lohari Savanga.

The gram panchayat, formed in the early years after Independence, strengthened the foundation of local administration in the village. The panchayat currently has 12 members in all, seven of them women and five men. The village's administrative structure is divided into four wards. Nearly eight decades of panchayat work and the tradition of a local self-government body are considered an important feature of the village's development journey.

According to the 2011 Census, the village had a population of 4,264, including 2,414 men and 1,850 women. The village has 844 households in all, of which 590 fall in the APL category and 254 in the BPL category.

The village economy rests mainly on agriculture. Farmers here grow a range of crops such as cotton, pigeon pea (tur), orange, mosambi, soybean, gram and wheat. Alongside traditional crops, fruit orchards have also given farmers options for earning. Narkhed tehsil is known for orange production, so the orchards of the area carry considerable economic importance.

Farmers nonetheless face challenges. These include modern farming methods, irrigation facilities, cost of production, market prices and natural calamities. The village's total geographical area is 979.19 hectares. If modern technology is brought to farming, agro-processing industries are set up and farmers get the right market, the village economy could gain further strength.

Among basic amenities, water supply is important. According to available records, Lohari Savanga has 810 account holders with tap connections. According to available figures for 2026, the village has 2,400 voters. The village's development is not limited to roads and water. It is also linked to education, health, employment and farming facilities.

The proposed visit of the Chief Minister has increased the importance of these questions. Hopes are being expressed that farmers will get modern farming techniques, irrigation facilities, fair prices for produce and access to processing industries. Villagers are watching which development issues get priority during the visit.
