Dr Shruti Neeraj Sawalakhe of Nagpur has won a major international honour. She won the winner's title at the Mrs United Nations 2026 pageant held at Crowne Plaza in New Delhi. She also took the Mrs United Nations Earth title. She reached this milestone while balancing her medical responsibilities, her family's support and her own dreams, and it has brought pride to Nagpur.
Dr Shruti is the daughter of Dr Ravi Charde. She works as a dental surgeon and cosmetologist. She has completed two fellowships in cosmetology and holds an MBA in hospital management. She is currently director at Jay Institute and Bhanukrupa Hospital in Nagpur. She had earlier also been successful in the Mrs India pageant, and she has now made her mark on the international stage.
It was said that during the pageant, when a foreign contestant appeared to be falling ill, Dr Shruti helped her as a doctor. Her identity was thus not limited to beauty and personality. In her view, success does not mean only winning prizes or a crown, but putting one's knowledge and experience to use in helping others. A crown adds to a person's stature, she says, but respect in people's hearts is built through humanity.
Representing India on the international stage was a matter of pride for Dr Shruti. Her presentation gave a special place to a patriotic theme inspired by Operation Sindoor and the Indian tricolour. Through it, she tried to convey a message of courage, love for the country and Indian identity.
Her husband, Dr Neeraj Sawalakhe, is a well-known gastroenterologist. Their son plays chess at the national and international level. Dr Shruti believes that with family support, discipline and proper planning, women can fulfil their dreams while carrying out their professional responsibilities.
She urges women to give importance to their own aspirations along with family and career. They should not treat age, circumstances or household responsibilities as the limit of their abilities. With confidence and determination, every woman can build a distinct identity, she says. According to her, every woman should stand firm for her dreams and not give in to circumstances.
After this win, Dr Shruti wants to use her medical expertise, leadership and personal experience to promote health awareness, confidence and personality development among women. She also intends to contribute to initiatives that bring positive change in society and are linked to women's empowerment. For her, the crown is not merely a mark of honour but also a responsibility to inspire women and do something meaningful for society.
