Nagpur man murdered, buried in forest; lemon and turmeric tip off police
A man's body was found buried in a Nagpur forest after lemon, turmeric and vermilion at the spot drew police suspicion.
A sensational case has come to light in the Butibori police station area of Nagpur district, where a young man was murdered and his body buried in a forest. On Monday, a body found buried underground in the Anjangaon forest caused panic in the area. The deceased has been identified as Darshan alias Dinesh Masram (38).
The way the body was buried after the murder reminded people of the story of the film Drishyam. It is being said that Darshan's mental state had not been well for the past few days.
A relative of Darshan gave the police key information about how the case began. On Saturday, Darshan had left home but did not return till late at night. His family members started searching for him but found no clue. On Monday morning, the family went to Butibori police station and filed a complaint about Darshan's disappearance. During this, a relative told the police that Darshan could be in the Anjangaon forest.
This relative suspected that Darshan may have been murdered and his body buried in the forest. The police took this information seriously and began searching the Anjangaon forest. During the search, police grew suspicious of one spot, where two cut lemons along with turmeric and vermilion were found lying. The condition of the ground also looked odd, following which police began digging there. As soon as the soil was cleared, police were stunned, as Darshan's body was recovered from underneath.
Butibori police prepared a panchnama of the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Police have registered a case of murder and begun investigation. In the initial probe, police suspect that Darshan was murdered by someone known to him, and the body was buried in the forest with the intention of destroying evidence.
Police are questioning the deceased's acquaintances, relatives and people who were in contact with him. The real motive behind the murder and how many people were involved in the crime will become clear only after the investigation is complete. Police are currently examining different aspects of the case to reach the accused.
