Maruti Suzuki Dzire under Rs 6 lakh this Diwali? 5-star safety, CNG mileage above 30 km

As the festival season begins in India, people head out to buy cars, and the crowd grows around Dhanteras and Diwali. Before buying a family car, buyers weigh mileage, features, safety and engine closely. Mileage and safety features remain the two things Indian households look at most. The Maruti sedan in question gives more than 30 km of mileage on CNG and comes with a 5-star rating.

On the engine: the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has a 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine. In petrol mode it produces 80 to 81.8 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque. In CNG mode the engine produces 68.79 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 101.8 Nm of torque at 2,900 rpm. The gearbox options are a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

On mileage: the Dzire is known as a compact sedan with excellent mileage. Its ARAI mileage on petrol is 24.79 to 26.13 km per litre. On CNG the ARAI mileage is 36.47 km/kg, which makes it a good option for both city and highway driving. It has a 37-litre petrol tank and a 55-litre CNG tank.

The car is ahead not only in mileage but also in safety. The Dzire has received a 5-star rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Six airbags are standard in all variants. For braking and stability, it has ABS with EBD and an electronic stability programme. Other features include hill-hold control, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree HD camera and TPMS. ISOFIX child seat anchors are also provided for the safety of small children.

Among other features, the Dzire has LED crystal vision projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, a shark-fin antenna and an electric sunroof. For comfort, it offers automatic climate control, rear AC vents, engine push start/stop with a smart key, cruise control and a height-adjustable driver seat.

The car also has a 7 to 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger and an Arkamys sound system. Suzuki Connect is available with smartwatch and Alexa integration. The ex-showroom price of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire ranges from Rs 6.31 lakh to Rs 9.54 lakh.
