Man shoots woman in Ahilyanagar flat, then kills himself in Kapurwadi

A shooting took place at around 4.30 pm near Bhagwan Baba Chowk on Pipeline Road in Ahilyanagar. In a building in the area, a young man shot a 35-year-old woman, who was injured. After firing, he fled the spot and later shot himself dead in the Kapurwadi area. The incident has caused a major stir in Ahilyanagar.

The man who died by suicide has been identified as Yogesh Dongre. His full name and address are not yet known.

According to the information available, the man was with a woman known to him in a flat on the fourth floor of the building at around 4.30 pm. The two had an argument there, and in the course of it he fired at the woman with a gun.

On receiving news of the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Tiprase and Balaji Vaidya, Police Inspector of Tofkhana police station, rushed to the spot with their team. Police were searching for the man, who had fled. During the search, it emerged that some time later he had shot himself dead in the Kapurwadi area.

The injured woman is being treated at the district hospital. Deputy Superintendent Tiprase said her condition is stable. He also confirmed that the man had died by suicide.

Until late at night, no case had been registered at Tofkhana police station in connection with the incident. The exact reason for the argument between the man and the woman has not yet come to light. Police are investigating further.

Although the cause of the shooting has not emerged, it is being said that it stemmed from one-sided love. The firing in a residential area spread fear in the neighbourhood.
