Pasha Patel, chairman of the Maharashtra State Agricultural Prices Commission and a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, has been acquitted by a court in a case alleging that he made obscene remarks and gestures at a public meeting in Jamkhed.

The verdict was delivered by G. G. Soni, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ahilyanagar. With the verdict, the legal process in the case has concluded. The court's decision is likely to be discussed in political circles as well.

According to the allegation, the incident took place during the 2024 Assembly election. The BJP candidate in the Karjat-Jamkhed Assembly constituency at the time was Prof. Ram Shinde. A public meeting addressed by Patel had been scheduled in Jamkhed on November 14, 2024, to campaign for him. A woman alleged that at this meeting Patel allegedly made an obscene remark and gestured with his hands.

A woman from Jamkhed had filed a complaint against Patel, alleging that such provocative conduct could have disturbed public peace. After the complaint, police investigated the matter and filed a chargesheet against Patel in court.

The case was then heard in court. During the hearing, the statements of six witnesses for the prosecution were recorded. The court then concluded the hearing and acquitted Patel of the offence.

Senior advocates Gorakh Palve, Kailas Shewale and Mirza Maniyar argued Patel's case in court. The alleged incident during the Assembly election campaign had brought the case into public discussion. With the acquittal, the case has reached a significant turning point at the court level.
