The five-match T20 series between India and West Indies ended 2-2. The fifth and deciding match, played in Bengaluru, was abandoned because of rain. Even so, India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan made an impact with the bat in the match.

Kishan scored 30 runs off just 10 balls, with 3 fours and 2 sixes, at a strike rate of 300. Thanks to his innings, India had reached 118 for 5 in 7.4 overs. Rain then interrupted play again and the match had to be called off.

During the same innings, Kishan broke the record of Suryakumar Yadav, India's former T20 captain. Kishan now holds the record for the most boundaries in a calendar year in T20 internationals. In 2026 so far, he has hit 177 boundaries, 122 fours and 55 sixes. He has scored 1,158 runs in 34 T20 internationals this year.

Suryakumar Yadav hit 174 boundaries in 2022, made up of 106 fours and 68 sixes. That year he scored 1,164 runs for India in 31 T20 matches. Abhishek Sharma is third on the list. This year he has scored 956 runs in 34 T20 internationals, including 92 fours and 70 sixes, a total of 162 boundaries.

The list of most boundaries in T20s in a calendar year is: Ishan Kishan 177 (2026), Suryakumar Yadav 174 (2022), Abhishek Sharma 162 (2026), Mohammad Rizwan 161 (2021), Abhishek Sharma 139 (2025), Brian Bennett 135 (2025), Babar Azam 116 (2021), Sanju Samson 110 (2026), Paul Stirling 110 (2019) and Suryakumar Yadav 104 (2023).

In the fifth T20 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, West Indies won the toss and asked India to bat first. India made an aggressive start, but opener Abhishek Sharma was out after hitting a big six. Kishan then took the West Indies bowlers apart.

Kishan took 23 runs off a single over from Romario Shepherd, with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 22 off 14 balls, while Naman Dhir remained not out on 24 off 6 balls, with 1 four and 3 sixes. In this 9-over match, India had made 118 for 5 in 7.4 overs.
