INDIA bloc to march in Nagpur on October 8 against voter list revision
The INDIA alliance will march from Variety Chowk to the Collector's office on October 8 as part of a nationwide protest against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The INDIA alliance has announced that it will intensify its agitation in Nagpur against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The alliance's constituent parties held a joint press conference at the Nagpur Press Club. Nagpur City Congress Committee president Praful Gudadhe Patil announced the proposed protest.
Gudadhe Patil said the INDIA alliance is holding protests against SIR across the country from October 2 to 8. As part of this, a large march will be taken out in Nagpur on Thursday, October 8, at 10 am, from Variety Chowk to the Collector's office.
Leaders, office-bearers and workers of the alliance's constituent parties will take part in the march.
Opposition parties have raised questions about SIR. Leaders of the INDIA alliance have alleged that large-scale changes are being made to the electoral rolls through SIR. The opposition parties have also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, questioning the election process and the voter list.
Through the march, the alliance will register its opposition to the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls, the Election Commission's way of working and the election process as a whole.
Gudadhe Patil said the Nagpur march is the local leg of the agitation under way across the country from October 2 to 8.
