Rishab Shetty's film Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has completed one year since its release. It is the prequel to Kantara. To mark the occasion, its production company Hombale Films posted on social media to thank audiences around the world.

The journey that began as a prequel went on to big success at the box office and also won a special place in viewers' hearts.

Rishab Shetty's Kantara was released in 2022, and the prequel, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, followed. Shetty wrote and directed the film and also played the lead role. Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah appeared in important roles. Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda produced the film under the Hombale Films banner.

The story is set in the ancient Kadamba era, that is, coastal Karnataka before colonial rule. It brings together the mythical origin of a sacred forest, human greed and divine references from folklore.

The film drew a good response from audiences for its emotional story, strong action and sections rooted in folk culture. Its music was also widely discussed. The music is by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.

Kantara also dominated the recent SIIMA Awards, winning nine awards in all. Its story, acting, music and direction were seen as key to its success.

In its post marking the anniversary, Hombale Films expressed gratitude for the love of viewers across the world. The production house said audiences worldwide had made this journey, rooted in its land, culture and traditions, special, and that their love had made it a memorable chapter in the Kantara journey.
