On the Chief Minister's appeal, the Parbhani guardian minister visited a sugarcane cutters' camp, while Rs 168 crore in Diwali advance reached the district's farmers.

Parbhani, November 8: On Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's appeal, Parbhani Guardian Minister Meghna Sakore-Bordikar celebrated Diwali this year with simplicity and sensitivity at a camp of sugarcane cutters in Jintur taluka. Meanwhile, the government has deposited a Diwali advance of more than Rs 168 crore into the bank accounts of more than 3 lakh farmers in Parbhani district.

Diwali is a festival of joy, but because of the challenges facing agriculture, and because labourers who move from village to village to cut sugarcane often have to stay away from the festival, Chief Minister Fadnavis had asked the state's ministers to celebrate Diwali with farmers.

Against this background, Guardian Minister Sakore-Bordikar arrived unannounced today at a sugarcane cutters' camp in the Adgaon Darade area of Jintur taluka. There she dressed the labourers' young children in new clothes with her own hands, distributed festive food and spoke warmly with everyone. In this way she brought the joy of Diwali to the children's faces.

During the visit, the guardian minister said it was her duty to make sugarcane cutters and farming families feel that they are not alone and that the government always stands with them.

A decision had been taken to give eligible farmers in the state's 304 drought-affected talukas a Diwali advance of Rs 5,000 per farmer, and it has been implemented effectively. By November 5, 2026, more than Rs 4,372 crore had been deposited into the accounts of more than 87.45 lakh farmers in the state. Of this, a total of Rs 168.19 crore has been sent directly to the bank accounts of 3,36,380 eligible farmers in Parbhani district. With this help, farming families in the district are celebrating Diwali with real happiness today. The guardian minister had worked to ensure that farmers received the money before Diwali.

Besides being guardian minister of Parbhani district, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar is a Minister of State. She holds the portfolios of public health and family welfare, water supply and sanitation, energy, women and child development, and public works.

On the occasion she said, "Celebrating the joy of Diwali with the sugarcane cutters today, they are my family, and bringing a smile to their faces is the true joy of the festival. The government is always with those who work hard."

The sensitive meeting and the financial help reaching bank accounts directly have created an atmosphere of happiness among farmers in Parbhani district.
