A large protest was held in Delhi yesterday demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest had been called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student organisations, and it is now being discussed across the country. Delhi Police had detained CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, his associates and some Opposition leaders, which caused considerable commotion.

Meanwhile, a video spread rapidly on social media. In it, some workers of the "Hindu Raksha Dal" are seen hitting women students who had joined the protest. The video also shows that this happened in the presence of Delhi Police. There is now widespread anger, and questions are being raised about the police arrangements and the safety of women.

The incident took place on DDU Marg, in the area of the Kamla Market police station. In the viral video, some men can be seen beating young students and jostling women. A policeman is also seen standing at the spot in the footage.

A senior police officer said four people have been arrested in the case. They are Raman Saini (50), Vivekanand alias Vivek (32), Kapil Kumar (27) and Ravinder Singh alias Govind Hindu (35).

The police had not received any formal complaint about the incident. However, when the video went viral on a large scale, the police took cognisance of the matter on their own. The police had information that these men might leave Delhi-NCR, so the investigation was stepped up. Initially it was not clear where exactly the video had been shot. Security agencies then investigated, traced the location and caught all four.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi also tweeted the video and targeted the Central government and Delhi Police. He wrote that the more the government suppresses them, the more the anger of Gen Z and students will grow. According to Rahul Gandhi, the Congress, the entire INDIA bloc and the country's youth will once again take to the streets on Monday, October 12. He also said that on Monday he will meet the Chief Justice.

The protest in Delhi is also against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, along with the demand for Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. On October 10, police had detained protesters in different parts of the city. All eyes are now on what further action is taken in the matter.
