Several misleading messages are circulating on social media about the Maharashtra government's Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme. A link is being sent on WhatsApp with the claim that it will restart the scheme's stopped Rs 1,500 instalment. It is also being claimed that new applications are being accepted through the same link.

All of this is a rumour. It has been clarified that the government has made no such official announcement. No one should act in haste on seeing such messages.

The viral messages ask women to click the WhatsApp link and give their personal information, Aadhaar number, bank details or OTP. Cyber fraudsters are preparing to exploit the women's difficulty. If anyone gives out this information, the money in their bank account could be at risk. The administration has appealed to people not to open unknown links or share confidential information.

Another claim on social media says the instalment under the Ladki Bahin scheme has been raised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100. The message also says a Government Resolution (GR) was issued for this on October 5. According to the government's clarification, no such decision has been taken. No official Government Resolution on raising the benefit amount has been issued either. Women should not trust such misleading claims.

Many women are facing difficulty in receiving the instalment. If your instalment has stopped for any reason, there is no need to panic. First check the points given below.

First, go to the government's official website and check the status of your application and benefit. Then make sure your e-KYC is complete. Also check whether there is any error in the application or any document still to be submitted.

Do not believe rumours or social media messages. If needed, contact the concerned government office or the system of the Women and Child Development Department. Carry out the entire process only through the options on the government's official website, to avoid being cheated.
