The Cotton Corporation of India briefed farmers at Khamgaon on the 'Kapas Kisan' app, procurement rules and modern cultivation methods during Vigilance Awareness Week.

The Cotton Corporation of India held a farmer awareness camp at Khamgaon with the aim of keeping cotton procurement transparent, informing farmers about digital facilities and raising cotton output through modern farming technology. The camp was held on Wednesday at Audarya Agro Industries in Khamgaon, as part of Vigilance Awareness Week.

Those present included Sunilkumar Patra, vigilance officer of the corporation's Akola branch; Aditya Waman, in-charge of the Khamgaon centre; Nitin Sakarkar; an official of the agricultural produce market committee; and factory manager Sanjubhau Ghogre. Farmers from the area also came in large numbers. The main purpose of the event was to help farmers understand the cotton sale process and benefit from the corporation's various initiatives.

The corporation has launched a mobile app, 'Kapas Kisan', to make cotton procurement more transparent and efficient. Detailed information about the app was given at the camp. Farmers were advised that digital platforms can make it easier to understand procurement-related processes, and that they should learn about the digital facilities available and use them effectively.

The initiative underlined that public awareness is important for keeping procurement dealings transparent, giving farmers correct information about the process and clearing up misunderstandings. Farmers were also urged to learn about the rules, procedures and facilities related to cotton sales in good time.

Farmers present at the camp raised the cotton procurement process and various problems related to farming. They also sought information from officials by asking questions on some matters. The officials concerned answered the farmers' questions. The interaction was held so that farmers get correct information and gain clarity about the procurement process. Emphasis was also placed on understanding farmers' difficulties.

Raising cotton output takes more than planting alone. Proper crop management, modern technology and scientific methods also matter. The camp therefore gave information on measures needed to improve productivity. Farmers were also guided on the high-density planting system (HDPS) and modern farming technology.

Increasing the exchange of information between farmers and the agencies concerned, and building awareness of modern farming practices, were an important part of the initiative. At the camp, held during Vigilance Awareness Week, priority was given to protecting farmers' interests, keeping the procurement process transparent and increasing the use of digital facilities.
