Congress to hold protest march in Rajura on September 28

Congress will lead a protest march in Rajura on September 28 over farmer, women's and unemployment issues, and demand the Chief Election Commissioner's removal.

The Congress party will hold a "Jan Aakrosh Morcha" (people's anger march) in Rajura on September 28, 2026. The march will be led by district president and former MLA Subhashbhau Dhote. It will begin at 10 am from the Bhavani Mata temple and proceed to the tehsil office.

The Congress said the march aims to draw the government's attention to various issues faced by farmers, women, youth, students, the unemployed and common citizens. The march, led by Chandrapur district Congress president and former MLA Subhashbhau Dhote, will be attended by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress spokesperson Hanumant Pawar, Leader of the Opposition and MLA Vijaybhau Wadettiwar, and MP Pratibhatai Dhanorkar.

Among the Congress's main demands are declaring drought across the state and immediate crop loss compensation and loan waivers for farmers in the Rajura assembly constituency. The party also demanded a legal minimum support price for farmers' produce, a crackdown on the black marketing of fertilisers and seeds, resolution of issues related to satbara land records and farmer IDs in the Jiwati area, and uninterrupted power supply for farmers.

The demands also include restarting the Ladki Bahin portal to give justice to women under the scheme, starting new registrations, and not making the NCMC card mandatory for women. The party also demanded regular monthly financial assistance for destitute people, an end to the additional financial burden being placed on consumers in the name of smart meters, and immediate repair of poor roads in both villages and towns.

Other demands raised in the march include the early release of pending benefits under Gharkul and social security schemes, a crackdown on paper leaks, employment for local unemployed youth, and relief from rising prices of gas, petrol, diesel and essential commodities.

The Congress also demanded a separate count of the OBC community in the caste census and that funds earmarked for the OBC, SC and ST communities not be diverted to other purposes. It also demanded the arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his immediate removal from office, along with an independent review of changes made to voter lists during his tenure.

The Rajura assembly Congress unit has appealed to farmers, women, youth, students, workers and common citizens to join the march in large numbers.
