Congress holds 'Bapu Tumhe Pranam' tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Variety Square in Nagpur
The Congress paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary with a programme at Variety Square in Nagpur.
The Congress organised a tribute programme titled 'Bapu Tumhe Pranam' at Variety Square in Nagpur on the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
The programme was held on the initiative of the World Non-Violence Day Organising Committee and the West Nagpur Congress Committee.
A garland was offered to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Congress office-bearers, workers and citizens present paid their respects by garlanding the statue. Well-known singer Surabhi Dhomne, Gunwant Ghatwai and their troupe sang devotional songs as a tribute to Gandhi.
Former Union minister and former MP Vilas Muttemwar, senior Congress leader Yadaorao Shirpurkar, Legislative Council member Abhijit Wanjari and corporator Ketan Vikas Thakre attended. Atish Zingare of the South-West Assembly slum cell, and city Congress general secretaries Pankaj Nighot and Pankaj Thorat were also present.
Other Congress corporators, office-bearers and workers also came in large numbers. Citizens responded to the programme enthusiastically.
