Amid the Navratri garba-dandiya celebrations in Chandrapur, Khel Sena Mandal extended financial support to a distressed farmer family. The family, from Korpana taluka in Chandrapur district, was given a total of Rs 20,000. The head of the family was a farmer who died by suicide. The initiative took place during the Somaiya Mata Ambe Bhavani Navratri Utsav and Garba-Dandiya Challenge 2026.
As music and dance filled the festival organised by Khel Sena Mandal, the aid was announced from the stage. Rajesh Naidu, the organiser of the garba-dandiya festival and secretary of the mandal, made the announcement suddenly. The aim, it was said, was to stand by the family in its grief and offer it financial support.
Prakash Khanke, a former deputy district chief of the Shiv Sena, brought the family from Korpana to the festival venue. There, the mandal's president Pratima Naidu, Jaydeep Bhaurode, Arvind Soni, Madan Gupta and Prakash Khanke together gave the family Rs 10,000. Jaydeep Bhaurode then announced a further Rs 10,000 from his own pocket. The family thus received Rs 20,000 in all.
On the occasion, Rajesh Naidu said, "Until farmers and teachers are respected in this country, the country cannot truly progress." He assured that Khel Sena Mandal would continue such social work to help needy families in distress.
Jaydeep Bhaurode also told the family to get in touch if they needed any further help. He assured them he would stand firmly by them.
On behalf of the family, Dr Khanke of Korpana thanked the organisers for the help.
The organisers said festivals should not be limited to entertainment. By extending a helping hand to a needy farmer family amid the colourful garba-dandiya celebrations, the mandal once again put forward the message of social responsibility.
