BJYM workers take Rahul Gandhi effigy in ambulance to Nagpur mental hospital
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha workers drove an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi into the Regional Mental Hospital in Nagpur and asked that it be admitted for treatment.
Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged an unusual protest in Nagpur. They carried a symbolic effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in an ambulance to the Regional Mental Hospital and asked the hospital administration to admit the effigy for treatment.
The workers drove the ambulance straight into the hospital premises, causing confusion there for a short while.
The BJYM workers said Rahul Gandhi was not in his right mind. According to them, he repeatedly makes baseless allegations against the Sangh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Election Commission and the BJP. They said their doctors had told them that Gandhi needed psychiatric treatment, and they therefore demanded that he be admitted to the Regional Mental Hospital in Nagpur. They also said they were holding the protest out of concern for his health.
The protest comes after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to the allegations Gandhi made at a press conference on the SIR issue. Fadnavis had said that Gandhi's mind had been stolen.
Fadnavis had said that the Congress and Rahul Gandhi were talking of vote theft, but their own minds had been stolen. He said he would request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider whether an inquiry committee could be set up to bring back their stolen or mortgaged minds. He asked whether some arrangement could be made to return that mind to them.
Fadnavis further said an attempt was being made to malign constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission. He alleged that, unable to win the public's trust, they were devising a strategy to create distrust in the system.
Fadnavis also said such attempts would not weaken constitutional institutions. According to him, the Election Commissioner has already clarified the SIR process. He said all the procedures were carried out unanimously. He also said the letter sent to the Cabinet Secretary was not related to any individual matter but to an appointment on deputation. He added that the process was proceeding according to the format the Supreme Court had laid down for Form No. 6.
