Residents of Bajaj Nagar in Nagpur allege police ignored illegal cafes and haphazard parking, after young engineer Sarvesh Kaselikar died in a collision with a travels bus.
Nagpur: Residents of the Bajaj Nagar area are angry with the police after the death of young engineer Sarvesh Kaselikar in a collision with a travels bus. They allege that, because of police neglect, cafes are being run in the area from illegal constructions. People from well-off families who visit these cafes park their expensive cars haphazardly on the roads. This not only obstructs traffic but also constantly poses a risk of accidents. Despite this, the police are turning a blind eye, they say.
Residents say Sarvesh, a young engineer, paid with his life for this negligence by the police. Raising serious questions about police functioning, they have asked why the police, who are responsible for the safety of ordinary citizens, do not act against these illegal activities and the traffic chaos.
On the night of October 26, engineer Sarvesh Kaselikar, who was riding a bicycle, was hit hard by a bus of Sanjay Travels. Seriously injured in the accident, Sarvesh died during treatment. The incident had exposed the working of the traffic police. The Sanjay Travels bus was passing through inner roads of the city in violation of traffic rules. After the accident, Bajaj Nagar police registered a case of accident, but neither seized the bus nor arrested the driver immediately. After Sarvesh's death, the police swung into action, recovered the bus and arrested the driver.
