Babasaheb Bhosale, Maharashtra's ninth chief minister and a senior lawyer, died at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai on October 6, 2007.
October 6 is the death anniversary of Babasaheb Bhosale, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Babasaheb Anantrao Bhosale was the state's ninth chief minister and also a senior legal expert. He died in Mumbai on October 6, 2007. After a brief illness, he breathed his last at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai. He was 86.
Bhosale took an active part in the freedom struggle and was jailed during the 1941-42 movement. He was Maharashtra's chief minister from January 1982 to February 1983. His tenure was short, but during it he provided free education for girls up to matriculation and started a pension scheme for freedom fighters. These are counted among his important decisions in the public interest. With his death, Maharashtra's politics and society lost a well-read and forthright personality.
