Ahilyanagar to host 'Tridha' evening of vocal, instrumental and dance on October 1
The free concert at Mauli Sabhagruha in Savedi on October 1 brings together Pt Vijay Ghate, Pt Anand Bhate and Kathak dancer Sheetal Kolwalkar.
'Tridha', a concert combining vocal music, instrumental music and dance, will be held in Ahilyanagar on October 1, 2026. The programme will begin at 6.30 pm at Mauli Sabhagruha in Savedi.
The programme is presented by Punit Balan Group and jointly organised by Anahat Ek Kalasrushti and Taal Chakra Pune.
In the first half, Padma Shri Pt Vijay Ghate will accompany on the tabla. He will be joined by noted Kathak dancer Sheetal Kolwalkar, noted vocalist Nagesh Adgaonkar and harmonium player Madhav Limaye. Sagar Patokar will recite the bols. This part will feature a jugalbandi of vocal music, instrumental music and dance.
In the second half, Pt Anand Bhate, a Sangeet Natak Akademi Award winner and noted vocalist of the Kirana gharana, will perform. He will be accompanied by Sagar Patokar on the tabla and Madhav Limaye on the harmonium.
The concert offers a rare chance to experience the glory of Indian music and dance traditions on a single stage. All residents of Ahilyanagar will get the opportunity to hear and watch the art of these veteran artistes in one place.
Students of music who kept up their practice and achieved outstanding results in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations will be felicitated by the eminent artistes at the programme.
Entry is free. The first three rows are reserved for dignitaries.
The concert presents various aspects of traditional Kathak dance. Quality presentations weave together the three streams of laya (rhythm), taal (metre) and bhava (expression). The main aim of the concert is to present the rich tradition of classical dance to modern audiences in an appealing manner.
The programme is supported by Central Bank of India, Chandukaka Saraf, Radio City 91.1 FM, Brand Mantra, Hotel V-Star and Nagar Stories.
Anand Kulkarni and Deepti Karandikar, on behalf of Anahat Ek Kalasrushti, have appealed to all music and dance students and art lovers of Ahilyanagar to attend in large numbers, arriving 15 minutes before the start, and add to the occasion.
