Adani Gas raises CNG price by Rs 4.45 a kg ahead of Diwali

Inflation has again added to the burden on household budgets in the festival season. Preparations for Diwali are in full swing, but rising prices have dampened the mood. Prices of household items, petrol and diesel were already climbing, and CNG prices are now going up too.

Adani Gas has abruptly raised the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 4.45 per kg. This could put further pressure on monthly budgets.

The increase will be felt in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In August 2026, the company had raised the CNG price by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 98.47. CNG has now reached about Rs 100 per kg. The question arises whether the Adani Gas increase will not affect areas outside Gujarat. The answer is no.

Explaining the reason for the increase, a spokesperson for ATGL said the cost of procuring natural gas had risen sharply, making the move necessary. According to the company, gas prices in the global market have climbed sharply because of a shortage of gas in the country, supply cuts and current global tensions.

Prices in other cities are as follows. CNG costs Rs 95.59 per kg in Noida, Rs 86.98 per kg in Delhi and Rs 89.00 per kg in Mumbai. In Chennai it is Rs 99.50 per kg, while in Kolkata it is Rs 103.00 per kg. In Jaipur too the price is Rs 99.50 per kg.

These figures show that CNG is costliest in Kolkata and cheapest in Delhi. The increase, coming just before Diwali, could directly affect the running costs of CNG vehicle owners, since after petrol and diesel, this fuel too has become dearer. The company says that, given rising costs, it had no option but to raise prices.
