Pune, October 27, 2026: Mahatma Phule College of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in Pimpri, Pune, held an expert lecture on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The lecture was titled "NEP 2020: Objectives, Implementation Strategy and Issues". It was held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The college's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Staff Academy and NEP 2020 Cell jointly organised the lecture.
Prof. (Dr) R. T. Bedre, Director of the UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC MMTTC) at Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (a central university) in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, was the guide for the lecture. The college's in-charge principal, Prof. (Dr) Pandurang Bhosale, presided over the programme.
The lecture focused on three points: the objectives of NEP 2020, the methods that can be used to implement the policy effectively, and the challenges faced in turning the policy's intentions into actual teaching and learning.
Prof. Bedre spoke about the practical difficulties in implementing NEP 2020. He cited inequity in access to higher education, language-related questions and socio-political concerns. He stressed that the implementation strategy must be effective if the policy's goal of building an inclusive, flexible and holistic education system is to be reached.
The higher education landscape is changing at present. The aim of the programme was to raise awareness among teachers about this and to increase their meaningful participation in implementing the policy.
IQAC coordinator Dr Nilkanth Dahale, Staff Academy chairperson Bhausaheb Sangale and NEP 2020 Cell chairperson Dr Maruti Kekane coordinated the programme. Prof. (Dr) Dattatray Hingane, member of the Management Council of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in Satara, and Prof. (Dr) Kamayani Surve, Vice-Principal of the Arts faculty, were also associated with the programme.
The expert lecture was held as part of the college's efforts to improve academic quality, develop teachers and ensure effective implementation of NEP 2020 at the level of higher education institutions (HEIs).
