Infrastructure work is moving quickly across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region through the municipal corporation. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that this dynamic infrastructure is helping fulfil the 'Mumbai in 59 minutes' pledge of reaching the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. He said the multi-modal connectivity work under way in the region would not only bring fast connectivity but also considerably improve citizens' ease of living.

Fadnavis opened online the railway bridge at Vidyavihar railway station in N Ward of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The bridge links Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Ramchandra Chemburkar Marg. He also opened online the flyover at Sion railway station and the flyover from Ratnagiri Junction to Chitranagari in Goregaon East, built under the Goregaon Mulund Link Road project.

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar joined the Vidyavihar programme from Pune. Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv Ashish Shelar, MLAs Rajhans Singh and Parag Shah, Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi and other public representatives were also present.

Fadnavis said an easy north-south and east-west connectivity system is being built in the Mumbai metropolis. He said the three bridge projects at Vidyavihar, Goregaon East and Sion are strategically important and will ease travel for people living in Mumbai. He described the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) as a crucial project for east-west connectivity.

The Vidyavihar railway station bridge connects Ramchandra Chemburkar Marg on the east with Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg on the west. Travel in the area earlier took about 30 minutes; the same distance can now be covered in 10 minutes. It will also reduce the traffic load on the flyover at Ghatkopar station.

The flyover and elevated circular road project in the Ratnagiri Hotel Junction area of Goregaon East has been effectively designed. It will reduce traffic congestion at Ratnagiri Hotel Junction and nearby intersections and smooth the flow of traffic. It will also help increase east-west connectivity.

The old bridge at Sion railway station was 112 years old and unsafe. The new bridge will serve traffic and will also make it possible to start work on the fifth and sixth railway lines. The Chief Minister said that once these lines are complete, the number and frequency of local trains can be increased, greatly benefiting commuters.
