Western Railway has said that all the drinking water quality tests carried out in its Mumbai Central division returned satisfactory results. The tests, 315 in all, were conducted between October 17 and 23, 2026.
According to the railway administration, all the samples tested showed 100 per cent compliance with the standards. Not a single sample fell outside the prescribed quality norms.
The administration said that of the tests done during the week-long drive, 263 were for residual chlorine and 52 were bacteriological. All the samples met the prescribed quality standards.
The drive was carried out by Western Railway's medical department. Its aim was to ensure that passengers and railway employees get safe and clean drinking water.
Under the monitoring drive, the quality of water from drinking water taps and water coolers at railway stations and railway premises was checked. The residual chlorine level and total dissolved solids (TDS) were assessed.
Western Railway said regular testing and monitoring are essential to maintain the quality of drinking water and to protect the health of passengers and employees.
The administration added that regular checks will continue at all stations and railway premises in the Mumbai Central division, to ensure hygiene standards are followed and safe drinking water remains available.
