Sankashti Chaturthi: Ganpati Bappa greetings to send to family and friends

According to the Hindu almanac, the fourth tithi of the Krishna Paksha, the waning fortnight, of every month is called Sankashti Chaturthi. The day is considered dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Devotees worship Ganpati Bappa wholeheartedly and offer him sweets or modak as naivedya.

It is believed that observing the Sankashti Chaturthi fast removes obstacles, troubles, illness and financial hardship from the home and brings happiness and prosperity. Both women and men can keep the fast. The fast is observed through the day. In the evening a mahanaivedya is offered to Bappa, and only after that is the fast broken.
