A new organisation, the Adhisvikrut Sampadak va Patrakar Mahasabha, Maharashtra State, will work to protect the rights, dignity and interests of editors and journalists accredited by the Maharashtra government. Nilesh Bhilare has been elected its president and Ashok Ithape its secretary. The announcement was made from Wai.

The main aim of the Mahasabha is to give accredited editors and journalists an organisational platform. It will also protect their professional rights, uphold the honour and self-respect of journalism, and give effective voice to the various problems of journalists. With the goal of a statewide organisational force that protects the rights, dignity and interests of editors and journalists accredited by the Maharashtra government, the emphasis will be on strengthening the journalists' organisation.

President Nilesh Bhilare said, "Our resolve is to work unitedly through this organisation to protect the rights, dignity and self-respect of editors and journalists accredited by the Maharashtra government. Our priority will be to give journalists' various problems, professional rights and interests an effective platform, and to uphold ethical values, fearlessness and credibility in journalism. Accredited editors and journalists in the state should join this organisational journey and strengthen our unity. The Mahasabha will always remain committed to the dignity, rights and bright future of journalists."

Under Bhilare's leadership, the emphasis will be on expanding the organisation's work across the state. The Mahasabha will try to coordinate with the concerned authorities on journalists' difficulties, professional problems and issues at the government level, carry out constructive initiatives for journalists' welfare, and preserve ethical values in journalism.

Secretary Ashok Ithape said, "Under the farsighted guidance of president Nilesh Bhilare, the organisation will surely move towards the heights of progress and success. Building a capable platform for the rights of accredited editors and journalists is the need of the hour. Through the organisation, journalists' problems will be effectively placed before the government. The freedom, dignity and professional interests of journalism will be protected. All accredited journalists should join and increase the strength of the organisation."

The Mahasabha has resolved to build a capable and effective platform for accredited editors and journalists in Maharashtra, through work based on three principles: the honour of journalism, the self-respect of journalists and the protection of journalists' interests.

Office-bearers at the divisional, district and taluka levels in Maharashtra will be chosen soon. Through these appointments, the organisation will be expanded across the state and its executive made more capable, broad-based and effective. An appeal has been made to all editors and journalists accredited by the Maharashtra government to join the organisation, take up membership and participate actively in protecting journalists' rights, dignity and interests.
