A video of veteran actor Nana Patekar, said to be his last, is going widely viral on social media. In it he is seen dancing with performers on a stage. He had taken part in the event with great energy only a few days before his death, and fans have been moved to tears on seeing the video.
The event was held on Sunday at the Taj Cidade de Goa in Donapaula. It was the founding ceremony of Samrat Club International, Estate-1. Patekar was present at the ceremony, where he joined the performers in a traditional Goan dance. He also played an instrument himself. The video of the ceremony is now being shared extensively on social media.
As always, Patekar wore a simple white kurta. His simplicity and spirited manner drew the attention of those present. During the event he also praised the working style of former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Patekar addressed the gathering in Marathi. Speaking about life and death, he said that no one can escape death. His words were: "I do not know whether I will be here tomorrow. That time comes in everyone's life. But before that, I will have to ask myself whether I am doing what I want to do."
He also spoke about his family. Patekar said: "I have to live for my wife, for my children, for my home... so live and die."
Now that the video has surfaced after his death, his remarks too are being discussed on social media. Fans and fellow artistes alike are emotional at the thought that Patekar, who danced with such spirit and spoke so openly with people only days ago, is no longer with us.
